Join us for our October Trimontium Talk! The Roman Frontier Fort of High Rochester with Professor Jim Crow.
This lecture will consider the fascinating and well-preserved fort at High Rochester, the most northerly of the post-Antonine period forts and the presentation derives from Prof. Crow’s long-standing interest in aspects of the Roman conquest and military settlement of Northern England and the Scottish Borders. He bases his talk on information derived from several phases of investigation starting in the mid-19th century, including his own in the 1990s carried out when in post at Newcastle University. He will conclude by assessing the first results of the latest season of work carried out by a Newcastle-based team in July 2021.
