Join us for two great days of free events as part of Doors Open Day & Scottish Archaeology Month

This year, Trimontium Trust is delighted to take part in Doors Open Day 2024, offering 2 days of activities free of charge.

Saturday 7th September: 12 noon – 4pm: Discover the Newstead Fort Site

Meet our volunteers at the entrance to the Fort site in Newstead, where we will be running short 30 minute guided tours of the Trimontium fort site. Tours will leave on the hour and half hour throughout the day. We will also have a working ballista on site so you can see its awesome firepower in action. The tours are suitable for all the family and are accessible to wheelchair users.

Sunday 8th September: 10am-4.30pm: Visit our Museum in Melrose

For one day only, we are offering free entry to the Trimontium Museum. There will be activities for all the family, including a chance to try on some great Roman armour. For a donation of £9, we are also giving visitors a chance to try our new VR experience throughout the day. Please ask at reception if you’d like to do this and they will let you know the timings. The museum is fully accessible.

There is no need to book for either activity, but there may occasionally be a short wait for tours/ access. If you have any specific accessibility requirements, please email info@trimontium.co.uk
