Butser Iron Age Farm is an experimental archaeology site and open-air museum in Hampshire, England, dedicated to researching prehistoric and Roman building and farming techniques through the construction of authentic, historically accurate buildings and the cultivation of ancient crops. It features reconstructed Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Romano-British, and Anglo-Saxon dwellings, offering hands-on experiences, workshops, and a multi-sensory glimpse into ancient life, supported by rare breeds of animals and ongoing research. Dr Thérèse Kearns is the farm’s resident archaeologist, and we are delighted to have her online to bring us up to date with the latest on Butser’s exciting programme of activities.
