Trimontium Museum was the proud winner of not one, but TWO Thistle Awards at the South of Scotland Regional Ceremony on 2nd October 2025. Hosted at the wonderful Laggan, just outside Gatehouse of Fleet, the awards celebrated the best that the South of Scotland has to offer. The judges said this about the Trimontium Museum:

Innovation Award:

“Trimontium Museum shows just what can be achieved with vision and creativity. Judges praised their brilliant use of technology to make invisible history visible, challenging real visitor challenges with innovation. With bold ambitions, measurable goals and a focus on community environment and inclusion, proving that innovation isn’t about size- it’s about imagination. A small museum with a mighty impact!”

Best Visitor Attraction:

“Passion, people and innovation-Trimontium Museum delivers it all. Judges were wowed by the high standards achieved by a large volunteer team, trained and motivated by a sense of pride and purpose. From VR and AR to re-enactments, workshops and tours, the experience is fresh dynamic and inclusive. With strong leadership and community spirit, Trimontium is proof that history, when told with passion, becomes unforgettable.”

Trimontium now goes forward to the National Scottish Thistle Award Final in Glasgow in November, in company with the best of Scottish Tourism!
