The museum may be closed for the month but we will be continuing our monthly Trimontium Talk Series. Our January Trimontium Talk looks at the fascinating topic of War and Peace at Ambleside Roman Fort in Cumbria.

Since 2021, the Trimontium Trust and Edinburgh University have been working on a project to research a potential period of conflict at Ambleside Roman Fort. As a result of two summer seasons of investigations, involving many hours of volunteer input, the evidence so far is pointing towards a “Battle of Ambleside”, and there is still more to uncover. We present a snapshot of our work at the fort so far and bring you up to date with new results of this beautiful and fascinating site.

Dr John Reid is Chairman of the Trimontium Trust and author of “The Eagle and the Bear”. He led the groundbreaking archaeological investigations at Burnswark Hill in 2016.

This talk will take place online via Zoom only.

Be sure to book your spot in advance and we hope to see you there!
