Our September Trimontium Talk examines the wonderful world of Roman Healthcare!

Marcus the Medicus/Dr Andrew Newton is a retired NHS Emergency Medicine Consultant who has a longstanding interest in Roman history and the history of healthcare.He undertakes regular work with museums as Marcus the Medicus, using the medium of re-enactment to bring Roman History to life. Having completed a Diploma in Archaeology and also a Diploma in Supporting Primary Education, Andrew regularly delivers in school classes and workshops on British history (Roman, Pictish and Viking). Andrew is the Education Outreach Volunteer for Groam House Museum in Rosemarkie (a Pictish museum on the Black isle). Andrew also helps run Archaeology Scotland’s, Online Young Archaeology Club – as their Northern Scotland correspondent.
