Learn how to dance like the Romans in this unique workshop!
Following the success and fantastic feedback from last year’s Roman dance sessions, we are delighted to offer this special Roman Dance Workshop once again.
Bring ancient dance to life as you explore movements inspired by the Roman world — all while having fun and staying active in a truly historical way.
Dance was an important part of Roman culture. Dancers appear in mosaics, frescoes, sculptures, and engraved gems, and Roman writers also left us some of the earliest descriptions of dance and movement in the ancient world. This workshop draws inspiration from these sources to recreate some of the rhythms and gestures of Roman performance.
Whether you are curious about history, love dance, or simply want to try something different, this is a wonderful opportunity to experience the ancient world in motion.

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Thania has a deep love of history, art, and dance. Before moving to Scotland, she built a successful career in Toronto, Canada as a dance teacher, studio owner, and artistic director, teaching hundreds of students, leading a professional dance company and an award-winning student troupe, and directing two full theatrical productions.
An accomplished dancer and dance historian with over 15 years of teaching experience, Thania holds an MA in Art History, undertook PhD candidacy in Medieval Studies, and completed postgraduate studies in Museums and Cultural Management. Her academic background informs her teaching, connecting movement with historical visual and literary sources, such as ancient artworks depicting dancers and performance.
Her dance foundation is in Classical Egyptian and American Vintage bellydance, as well as Middle Eastern folkloric dances, with influences from Argentine, Turkish, and fusion styles, alongside touches of ballet, jazz, and Latin dance.
Through her research into the history of dance, Thania explores how ancient writers and artists recorded performers in mosaics, frescoes, sculptures, and engraved gems, offering rare glimpses into dance across the Roman world.
You don’t need any previous experience just a willingness to learn and have fun.
