Uncovering Roman Carlisle with Frank Giecco
Join Frank Giecco, Technical Director at Wardell Armstrong LLP and Archaeological Director of the Uncovering Roman Carlisle project, for an update on one of the most exciting archaeological investigations in Britain today.
Since its launch in 2017, the project has transformed our understanding of Roman Carlisle, revealing the city’s crucial role in Rome’s advance into northern Britain. Excavations have uncovered remarkable evidence of military, civic, and everyday life, highlighting Carlisle’s importance as a major centre on the Empire’s northern frontier.
Taking time out from this year’s excavation season, Frank will share the latest discoveries from the site and explore what they tell us about the people who lived, worked, and served there nearly two thousand years ago. This is a unique opportunity to hear first-hand about new finds and emerging interpretations from a project that continues to reshape our understanding of Roman Britain.
Perfect for anyone interested in archaeology, Roman history, and the stories still waiting to be uncovered beneath our feet.
