Thania M. Flores – Heritage Environment Resources Officer
Apr 5th 2023 | Thania M Flores

Thania joined Trimontium as a volunteer in the Spring of 2020, remotely as Digital Engagement Intern and in person, seasonally, as Curatorial Intern. In this capacity, she created the Trust’s Instagram and Pinterest accounts, contributed to the online Archive and produced interpretation projects for the museum.

In 2022 she became part of the Trimontium staff as Community Archivist for Creativity and Inclusion. This role allowed her to work with the museum’s collections developing the HLF funded project “The Digital Romans”, focusing on accessibility and inclusion. She embarked on diverse activities making connections with the community through outreach, marketing, social media, digital outputs and Roman inspired dances. In 2023 she was recruited as Heritage Environment Resources Officer. This role focuses on developing the new HALO (Heritage and Landscape Observatory) project and the HALO experiences, while still taking part in the “Digital Romans”, marketing and collections care.

Thania is an Art Historian (BA, MA) and Medievalist (PhD Candidacy) with a business background in the cultural sector as former dance studio owner. Her passion for history, archaeology, art and the important role of museums in our world today, led her to pursue a PGC in Museum & Cultural Management. Graduating with high honours, this program added museum interpretation, programming, social media, collections care, project management and exhibitions to her skill set.

With a deep love for Scotland and a keen interest in Classical Antiquity, Celtic and Medieval Studies, Thania is living her dream of moving to this beautiful country and contributing to the exciting developments of the Trimontium Museum.
