New Trimontium Museum opening date announced…
Jun 22nd 2021 | Rob Longworth
The opening of the new Trimontium museum in Melrose is fast approaching. After years of planning, fundraising, hard work and the unexpected challenges of 2020 & 2021 The Trimontium Trust can announce that the museum doors will open on Monday August 2nd at 10.30am.
To guarantee your ticket online booking is NOW AVAILABLE, Click the TICKETS tab at the top of the page. Walk-ins will still be accepted providing we have capacity.
The builders have left the site after transforming the museum space, the reading room and the rest of the Ormiston and Corn Exchange. The shop & museum fitters have been and gone having worked their magic installing new lighting, retail fittings, gallery infrastructure and state of the art display cases, worthy of the stunning array of objects returning as I type to their Melrose home from National Museums Scotland, Live Borders, private collectors and the Trusts own collection.
Outside the museum, in Market Square evidence of the work behind the scenes has recently appeared. Signage and branding to alert the public to the location of the new museum are in place, a call to arms for volunteers is placed in the main window and the new steel signage compliments the local stonework. A refreshed entrance with gold lettering above the museum entrance awaits the new visitors.
The Trust looks forward to seeing you from Monday 2nd August, with further announcements of associated activities & events due in the coming weeks, available here and via our social media channels.
