Our October Trimontium Talk is all about Romans Camps!
Roman Camps are temporary structures built by the army when on campaign, manoeuvres as well as practicing for new conquests. Whilst Scotland has one of the the largest numbers of camps known anywhere in the Empire (partly due to our history of recording them and partly due to repeated campaigns north of Hadrian’s Wall by Roman forces), programmes of research elsewhere have brought greater understanding of these structures. This talk by Dr Rebecca Jones will give an overview of camps with a focus on Britain but also presenting evidence from elsewhere in the Roman Empire.
This talk will take place in person at the museum and online via Zoom.
Are you ready to explore Roman Camps? We hope to see you there!
