1st – 22nd November
Learn how to dance like the Romans at our weekly classes, with our wonderful Thania. After the success and great feedback from our first session we are delighted to offer another session of Roman dance classes starting on November 1st for 4 weeks. Bring ancient dance styles to life, whilst having fun and staying fit in a historical way!
The Romans not only depicted dancers on mosaics, frescoes, sculpture and even intaglios, but they also left us some of the earliest written descriptions of dancers and their movements.
ABOUT THANIA
Thania has a deep love of history, art and dance. Before moving to Scotland, she developed a solid career as a dance teacher, studio owner and artistic director in Toronto, Canada. She taught hundreds of students, led a professional dance company, an award winning student troupe, and directed 2 full theatrical productions.
An accomplished dancer and dance historian with 15 years of teaching experience, Thania is a deeply caring instructor, encouraging students to be their best, helping them discover their own dance voice. Her classes are engaging, fun, empowering and inspiring, combining art, technique, wellness and connection.
Thania’s dance foundation is in Classical Egyptian and American Vintage bellydance, as well as Middle Eastern folklore dances, with influences of Argentinean, Turkish and Fusion styles with sprinkles of ballet, jazz and Latin. Her research into the history of bellydance took her on a journey through antiquity and through the writings of those who not only depicted dance in mosaics and frescoes, but also wrote down everything they encountered across their vast empire -including dance and dance contracts- the Romans.
You don’t need any previous experience just a willingness to learn and have fun.
