Join us for two great days of free events as part of Doors Open Day & Scottish Archaeology Month

This year, Trimontium Trust is delighted to take part in Doors Open Day 2023, offering 2 days of activities free of charge.

Saturday 2nd September: 12 noon – 4pm: Discover the Newstead Fort Site

Meet our volunteers at the entrance to the Fort site in Newstead, where we will be running short 30 minute guided tours of the Trimontium fort site. Tours will leave on the hour and half hour throughout the day. We will also have a working ballista on site so you can see its awesome firepower in action. The tours are suitable for all the family and are accessible to wheelchair users.

Sunday 3rd September: 10am-4.30pm: Visit our Museum in Melrose, our new learning space and library

For one day only, we are offering free entry to the Trimontium Museum, including exclusive access to our new library and activity space – the Heritage & Landscape Observatory. There will be activities for all the family, including a chance to try on some great Roman armour. The museum is fully accessible.

There is no need to book for either activity, but there may occasionally be a short wait for tours/ access. If you have any specific accessibility requirements, please email info@trimontium.co.uk
