Trimontium Museum is proud to have this exhibition of new works by Rachel Hunter and Martin Wilson on display in our space throughout May, June, and July. We hope you will take some time to come by and view these wonderful pieces for yourself.

All works will be available for purchase with a portion of the profits going to help support the work at Trimontium.

The exhibition is free to view and runs from May 3rd through July 31st.

Hidden is an artistic interpretation of the historic landscapes around us, with a special focus on the Eildon Hills. Archaeological remnants like bronze axeheads, Neolithic rock art, and Iron Age brooches – some of which you can see in Trimontium Museum – are reconnected with the places they were found in, encouraging a sense of wonder and discovery.

The exhibition’s abstract renditions of Borders scenes through paintings and sculptures prompt us to see the familiar in new ways. Ancient motifs including carved knotwork and depictions of animals are put into contemporary artistic contexts, blending authentic historical artefacts with a modern way of seeing the past. Hidden is for anyone who finds meaning in the stories and landscapes around them, and who feel a connection with those who came before us.

“I want my work to evoke the mystery of the hills and refer to the richness of evidence which has been hidden for so long and which today is revealed through the skills of archaeology and storytelling.”
