Coronavirus: A statement from the Chairman
Apr 1st 2020 | trimmuse

For most of us, these are very difficult and worrying times on a magnitude never before encountered by those too young to have experienced the uncertainties of World War II.

However, if COVID-19 is anything like its predecessors, the isolating measures (which have sadly curtailed our plans for Trimontium activities) which have been put in place will start bringing about a steep decline in new cases within the next three months or so.

It will however mean that things will take a considerable while to get back to normal. We hope to keep everyone updated via social media (see Trimontium on Facebook and Twitter) and through our website. In the meantime, owing to the way the coronavirus situation has developed, the Trust has now decided to take the following steps:

  1. Lecture meetings in April are cancelled and the speakers have agreed to re-arrange at some future time. It may also be necessary to cancel meetings in the Autumn but it is too soon to anticipate.
  2. We will not be opening Abbey House as planned in April and our ‘Walk in the Path of the Romans’ on April 26th has also been cancelled. All trimontium Walks are similarly cancelled.
  3. Our Borders Book Festival Fringe event has been cancelled.
  4. Communication during this stressful period is paramount. Those who have not yet sent in their e-mail addresses to join our e-mail circulars, please consider doing so by contacting

Frances Mann our volunteer coordinator at francesmann@trimontium.co.uk

Best wishes to you all
